I wanted to design a simple card design for playing cards with 4 jokers because I do not see many decks with more than 2 true Jokers. This was created with adobe draw on an iPad Pro. Illustrator was used to arrange the symbols of each suit. Everything was hand drawn digitally.
When I was thinking of her design I was thinking that I should make her sweet, but noble. I drew her out on paper first and then I retraced her through Photoshop.
The Queen of Spades was thought through to be devious. She is drawn out on paper and partially modeled through one of my artist friends.
The Queen of Diamonds was initially sketched out on paper, but she does not look exactly like her drawing because I had to make a few changes to her overall look and clothing design. When I was thinking of her design I was thinking that she should be an elf, noble, and possible magic.
She is representing her Scottish heritage and slightly Welsh. When I was thinking on this queen I thought of how I present her. The Queen of Clovers was to represent lineage even if I did not know of it when I was drawing her. Yes, each clover on her tunic is drawn and it took three days to finish.
I posed for for this, but I did not wear a dress. She was first drawn to be inviting, but also at the same time, unsettling. Her shading was done in Painter 2018, but I retouched everything in Photoshop to control the shading to make sure it stayed within the lines.
She is placed in a pose in mid air because I wanted at least one of my Jokers jumping. Painter 2019 was used for the shading and the detail within the hair.
With this Joker I decided to pose him pondering about his world. I made sure that his clothing even expressed that. The bench that he was sitting on was drawn after I retraced his pose with readjustments. Photoshop and Painter 2019 were used.
I first thought of his pose looking at a gentleman using a cane. Photoshop and Painter 2019 was used to retrace the drawings. He represents the magic and knowledge in their world.
Like the hearts, I wanted them to be pairs, yet a reflection of the hearts in a dangerous way. Like if you cross me, yo die. Finished December 2020.
For the 2 of hearts, I wanted to show affection, but also show that love has no boundaries. Each set of cards will have a theme. 2’s are pairs, Aces are Knights, and so on. Finished August 2021.
The Clubs I wanted to show lineage with family, but at the same time, not make it overly detailed. That would only muddy the image I was going toward. Finished September 2021.
I wanted to create a wolf painting from a picture I found online, so this is him. Not a pet, but I just have a fondness for wolves. Created on October 4, 2023.
This is one of my childhood dogs that died within 2023. He lived a long life and I wanted to paint a few paintings of his. This is the first. Painted on October 4, 2023.
Made in March 2020 during the Ice Storm in Texas. No recording was made of the process of making this painting. The customer never emailed me back. It took about a month to think about how I was going to paint this dog.
She is a freehand Painting done from acrylic paint. A 12 X 12 piece that was made using dry brush and standard painting techniques. This artwork was finished on October 4, 2023.
This an artwork that had no inspiration behind it. A 16 x 20 artwork that uses bronze metallic paint for the background with horizontal strokes of the brush when the painting was first painted in landscape. Using a various forms of dry brush, and washes to create a piece that is not afraid to stare you in the face.
A 16 x 20 artwork that was created from the idea of my previous painting Xhir. I wanted to create a lighter version of Xhir, but I didn’t want to stray from the idea of abstraction. They also needed to be female as well. This painting takes that lighter approach. Instead of her pouting at the viewer, she faintly smiles. I made this piece in November of 2023 about a week after Xhir. The painting uses metallic paint of bronze and gold, so the picture never will do it full justice.
